SAY NO TO ANOTHER GAMBLING ARCADE IN PALMERS GREEN!

It has come to our attention that an application has been made for a gambling licence at the old Lloyds TSB bank on the high street with a view to opening it as an adult gaming centre.

We already have 5 betting shops in close proximity and this proposed adult gaming centre will be situated just two doors down from Ladbrokes and moments from Devonshire Square where children and families spend time. We need the community to urgently come together to fight this. One of our volunteers, Giorgia, has set up a petition to capture objections, but we also need you to lodge objections directly to the licensing team at Enfield Council. Information on how to do this are available on the petition website. It is vital that we lodge objections based on specific criteria related to:

  • prevention of crime

  • protection of children and vulnerable people

  • Public safety

  • Public health

The crib sheet on the petition site explains how to do this. You are welcome to personalise your objection and make any points you want but the licencing department will make a decision based on the specific licensing criteria.

We have until the 30th of July to lodge objections so please act as soon as possible.

We know the devastating effects of gambling on communities, bringing an increase in crime in their wake. PLEASE ACT NOW!
