A big thank you to everyone who came to the Spring Street Market on Saturday 22 April. It was a fantastic day and even the sun shone down on us for a while.

To make the day even more special, we were treated to an impromptu set by singer songwriter Freya Ridings! The multi-instrumentalist, who has had several top 10 UK hits, is a North Londoner who grew up in Palmers Green.

Although playing for the King at the Coronation next week, Freya went back to her routes, borrowing another performers guitar and playing some of her hits for the shoppers at the market.

Freya said playing gigs in North London was “the lifeblood” of her teens and twenties and “she is very happy to be back”.

Shirley Rose, who coordinated the music programme for the Palmers Green Action Team Market said “It was fantastic that Freya came to shop at our community street market and we couldn’t believe it when she offered to perform a few of her songs. She is a great inspiration to our local musicians, and it is lovely that she hasn’t forgotten her Palmers Green roots”

Along with the fantastic music we had a terrific range of local traders selling everything from macrame, to vinyl to pot plants.

To keep everyone sustained, we also had delicious food and drink to enjoy.
